2014 BMW 1-Series Compact--which mount transversely, also as in Minis but not rear-drive 1s--will comprise new 3- and 4-cylinder designs with turbocharging and direct fuel injection.
Sources expect the "triple" to be a 1.4-or 1.5-liter available in 140- and 170-horsepower versions. The four-pot will apparently be a 2.0-liter with perhaps close to 200 horsepower
